On 9 September 2025, Israel launched a multifaceted offensive by carrying out airstrikes on a residential compound in Doha, Qatar. Israeli bombardment supposedly targeting a senior Hamas political leadership meeting said to be considering a U.S. ceasefire proposal has resulted in the death of one Qatari and several other nationalities. Although the top Hamas figures—including Khalil Al-Hayya—survived, six people were killed, among them Al-Hayya’s son and a Qatari security officer Badr Al-Dusari. The unprecedented strike has sparked broad international uproar.

Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani stated that the Israeli attack on Doha can only be described as "state terrorism" carried out by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, adding that “Is this the beginning of reshaping the Gulf as well?”. Furthermore the PM affirmed that this is a pivotal moment that calls for a collective response to these barbaric actions.

Jeremy Corbyn, the former Labour Party Leader of the UK stated via X: “Israel has bombed Qatar, a sovereign nation. This reckless act of escalation is a disgraceful & deliberate attempt to destroy any chances of a ceasefire. It is clear: Israel has no intention of ending its campaign of genocide and ethnic cleansing. End all arms sales, now.”

The Israeli war on Gaza which is called by many to be a genocide and a modern day holocaust, has now reached its 705th day. With over 170 thousand Palestinians killed, many are questioning what the UN now stands for and why the International Criminal Court’s decision to arrest Netanyahu and several other Israeli hierarchy remains on standstill.
